We just want to say thank you to everyone for making it to Calliope’s party yesterday. She had a lot of fun and enjoyed spending time with everyone (so did Dad and Daddy). Days like yesterday always bring so much joy to Mikey and I as we are reminded of the true great set of friends we have.
Here is the money shot for all of you that we not able to join us:
For all you pirate fans out there! We finally got some rubber duckies for Calliope to play with in her bath.
I’ve got the remote!
Hanging out in nothing but a bow, her favorite toy is the tiny apple remote…
I'm still standing
Walked into Calliope’s room today after a few minutes of her whining… she was supposed to be napping and the morning nap is usually her best (read longest and most productive for me). For whatever reason today, she decided to wake up after about an hour, which is about half the normal morning nap… ugh… so i traipse into her room to find her peering over the side of the miniature crib she is in just babbling away about god knows what, AND with a paci in her mouth. I nearly fell over in astonishment, but as it is, I’m still standing.
Today was our first day with the new babysitter Sara. She was coming around 10 to have an hour of uninterrupted explanation of “how we do things”. Of course, Calliope was not going along with the schedule and was once again making enough noise in her crib for me to realize she wasn’t sleeping. This, not even five minutes after Sara walked in. Her timing really is amazing. But even more amazing was the fact that when we went in there to get her, there she was again, peering over the edge, happy as a pig in mud, knuckles white from grasping so hard at the side, and ready to get up out of bed!
So, as is the case 90% of the time, she got her way and had a half ass nap this morning. We made up for it later (and now) but we are generally ahead of the regular schedule and when Michael comes home to relieve me (pool night, yay!) he’ll be happy to know she is going to bed on time tonight. A welcome gift after a long day of work, I’m sure!
As a surprise, I’m going to not tell him about the standing in the crib. I hope he experiences it himself “for the first time”. Plus, I’m curious as to whether he will be standing afterwards!! Love you honey.

I took yesterday off to sleep in. Calliope had been up all night, poor thing. So an extra hour of sleep was definitely need for the parents.
This morning was nice and calm and serene. I felt a bit tired but I expected that since I just started back up on the running. Everything was shaping up to be a nice morning, until that serenity was broken by a set of news helicopters. WTF is going on at 6 in the morning that they need a fleet of news helicopters flying over the city.
Update: So it turns out that something really terrible had been going on. Our hearts go out to the members of our community who have lost their homes in a tragic fire.
We are in trouble now

Doc visit today
Went and saw the gorgeous doc today. Just for a flu shot follow up. It seems we didn’t schedule the Sears spread out vaccinations for this month, so we get to go back next week. He also informed me that he takes baby aspirin and fish oil everyday which he thinks is part of the reason he doesn’t get sick anymore. I’m gonna try it out and see what happens!
Hopefully new pics soon
Well, I’ve tried to use this blog the last couple of days and make it a habit. I truly want to have these entries for Calliope when she gets older. I think they will be interesting for her to see, especially the pictures. However, my iphone app isn’t cooperating at the moment so none of the pictures I keep posting are making it to the blog. Very sad indeed. But I’m sure Michael will help us out with this as soon as he can get the time.
